Donald Trump, the United States Republican Presidential candidate, detailed a shooting at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, which resulted in one death and one severe injury.
During the rally on Saturday, the former President was swiftly escorted off stage by the Secret Service following the sound of gunshots.
Trump suffered a minor injury when a bullet grazed the upper part of his right ear.
In a statement on Sunday, Trump described his injury, noting that a bullet had pierced the upper part of his right ear.
He expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their quick response and extended his condolences to the families of the victims.
Trump stated, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately something was wrong when I heard a whizzing sound and felt the bullet rip through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.
“I want to thank the United States Secret Service and all of Law Enforcement for their rapid response to the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I extend my condolences to the family of the person killed at the rally and to the family of another person who was badly injured.”
