Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has stated that in order for Nigeria to remain competitive internationally in advanced technology, the nation must prioritise Artificial Intelligence (AI) for rapid socioeconomic development.

When the Glisten International Academy, Abuja, headed by its CEO, Dr. Samira Jibir, paid him a courtesy visit in his office, Chief Nnaji remarked as much.

The minister remarked that we were living in an age of emergent technologies, including artificial intelligence, biometrics, and medical learning. He further stated that the academy’s newly developed medical robot, Mairabot, was a significant innovation with the potential to benefit the entire continent and the world.

Nnaji further asserted that education ought to be passed down as a legacy to “our children for future benefits.” He added that parents ought to motivate their children to utilise STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education as a means to accomplish their aspirations.

He guaranteed the endorsement of the ministry for the academy’s benevolent action, which had positively represented Nigeria on an international stage.

Mr. James Sule, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, stated that the ministry was willing to work with the Federal Ministry of Education to ensure that the Mairabot technology was integrated into the curriculum.

Previously, Dr. Jibir stated that the academy was a 21st-century institution committed to producing nation builders who would benefit both the academy and the nation.
