The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has expressed disappointment over the outcome of Saturday’s local government elections, labeling it a mockery of democracy.
APC Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, criticized the election, describing it as poorly executed and scripted.
According to the results announced by the Chairman of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Isiaka Olagunju, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious in all 33 local governments.
Sadare lamented the perceived manipulation by OYSIEC, stating that the election fell below standard and wasted state resources.
He mentioned that APC stakeholders would convene to review the situation and communicate their decisions to the public.
Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier commended the elections’ peaceful conduct, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to eliminating caretaker administrations at the local level, allowing citizens to participate in governance.
