Gabriel Chukwunwendu, an Abuja-based businessman, has warned that negative news about cultism, abduction, and killings coming out of Anambra state is driving investors away.

Chukwunwendu, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pool King Estate, revealed this at his birthday party in Awka, Anambra State, over the weekend.

He stated that there is a high incidence of bad news stories on crime and insecurity coming out of Anambra state, and the government is not doing enough to shift the narrative, which has discouraged people from returning to their home state to invest.

Chukwunwendu emphasised the importance of responding quickly to or discrediting unfavourable security allegations in order to protect the state’s image and possible investors.

The Nnewi-born businessman praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s road infrastructure initiatives for opening up communities and increasing the value of properties in Awka and across the state.

He encouraged the governor to evaluate the government’s tax system in order to attract investment in the state.
