The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) began clearing miscreants carrying out unlawful activities under Abuja’s bridges on Tuesday.

Officials from the FCT Administration, led by Mukhtar Galadima, Director of the Department of Development Control, have commenced the cleaning exercise beneath bridges and subways at a bridge near Abia House on Ahmadu Bello Way in the Central Business District.

He stated that the activity was prompted by a mandate from the Minister of FCT to clean up and perform a visibility assessment on subways and beneath bridges suspected of being hiding places for criminals.

Galadima, who was represented by Hassan Ogbole, Deputy Director, Monitoring and Enforcement, indicated that people had expressed concerns about the escalating wave of security issues linked with the majority of the locations.

Dr. Peter Olumuji, Secretary, Control and Command, FCT Administration, stated that the action was designed to ensure the inhabitants’ safety.
