The donation, which included rice, sweet potatoes, spaghetti, Garri, Tomato paste, and more, totaling 50 packs was to ensure that no student faces hunger during the First Semester Examination Period that started today, April 2, 2024.

While presenting the donation, the Dean, College of Biosciences, and the Convener, Prof. Iyabode Kehinde, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, emphasised the importance of responsible usage of the items, urging students to utilise them wisely throughout the examination period.

According to him, it depicts the current Administration’s commitment to the welfare of the students.

Besides, Prof. Kehinde stated that the gifts coincided with the First Anniversary of the Assumption of Duty of the Vice-Chancellor but were not part of the celebration activities.

He, therefore, appreciated the Student Affairs Division for accepting the token gift of love to help the students, while praying for success in their examinations.

Expressing gratitude for the act of kindness, the Dean, Students Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun, hailed the Vice-Chancellor’s paternal care towards the students, recognising the significant impact the provisions would have, especially when many students are financially strained.

One of the beneficiaries, Olumide Emmanuel, a 300-Level student of Entrepreneurial Studies, conveyed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of his peers, expressing prayers for the continued abundance for the Vice-Chancellor.

In the spirit of cheerful giving, Mrs. Olukemi Fashina, founder of the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Lakem Global Foundation, joined in solidarity by donating additional food items, further demonstrating the University’s support for its students during this challenging time.

As first-semester examinations commence, the generosity serves as a beacon of hope, reaffirming the spirit of compassion and solidarity within the University Community.
