In Kwara, a community leader’s house was razed

A fire destroyed the residence of the Alangua of Wara, Alhaji Saka Imam, in Ilọrin West LGA of Kwara State, displacing around 20 persons.

A power surge is believed to have caused the Monday night fire.

Ridwan Opakunle, the community’s Youth Leader, reported to City & Crime on Tuesday that a renter plugged in his phone, causing a spark that ignited the cooking gas behind the charger when electricity was restored.More than 20 impacted tenants are currently homeless. The alangua, his children, and his ailing mother, who were hurried outdoors during the event, are seeking sanctuary at a mosque. “They couldn’t save anything from the inferno.”

Hassan Adekunle, spokesperson for the Kwara State Fire Service, verified the event and stated that the fire affected 15 rooms and various stores.
