Kannywood debuted on Netflix with Mati a Zazzau

Saturday, December 30, 2023, saw a new dawn in Hausa film industry, as Mati a Zazzau became the first Kannywood movie to have been premiered on Netflix.

The movie Mati a Zazzau was produced by popular Kannywood diva Rahama Sadau and directed by Yaseen Auwal.

Mati a Zazzau also debuted popular Marvin record singer Hadiza Blell, known as Dija, into the Kano-based film industry, where she acts alongside Sadiq Sani Sadiq, Rahama Sadau, Rabiu Rikadawa, and a host of others.

First Post reports that Mati a Zazzau is the first Kannywood movie to hit Netflix.

Kannywood has been battling epileptic revenue sources, with many stakeholders projecting Netflix as the only way out of Mati a Zazzau.

Netflix is a popular movies on-demand streaming site that distributes films and television shows internationally in multiple languages.

Thanking her fans, Saudau posted on her verified Facebook page, “Thanks to you all. Mati a Zazzau has made it to the top 10 Movies in Nigeria On Netflix. Thank you!Thank You!! Keep streaming on Netflix.”
