Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has explained why he dislikes being called a “legend.”
In an interview on Curiosity Made Me Ask, RMD stated that he views the title as a “scam.”
He believes actors like Olu Jacobs and Pete Edochie are more deserving of the title, as he does not see himself in that category yet.
RMD also mentioned that when referred to as a legend, he feels like an old man who is nearing retirement, which makes him uncomfortable with the label.
“I think all those legend things are a scam. I have my legends like Uncle Olu Jacobs and Uncle Peter; those are our ancestors, our legends,” he said.
“I was still watching him when he was saying Ribena children are healthy children.”
“So I don’t subscribe to that. I think it is a scam when they call me a legend because they are trying to relegate me to that neighbourhood of retired people or people who should be nearing retirement. So, no, I don’t subscribe to it.”
