The Edo State Police Command has arrested two individuals for alleged murder and armed robbery in Edo State.
Daniel Amuzoga (33) of Ukwuani, Delta State, and Christopher Omiose (30) of Esan land, Edo State, were accused of killing a truck driver and his conductor and stealing his vehicle, which contained 45,000 litres of quality motor spirit.
According to the command’s spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, one Nwoye Ezeako complained to the Okhuaihe Police Division that four robbers armed with firearms and cutlasses attacked his truck driver and conductor along the Benin-Agbor Road at the Okhuaihe Bridge.
He stated that the truck with registration number ENU 376 XU was delivering 45,000 gallons of fuel from Lagos State to Onitsha, Anambra State, when armed bandits ascended the motorway, shot the driver in the chest, injured the conductor and looted them of their property.
Chidi stated that the police seized the site and transported the driver and his conductor to Aigbogun Hospital, but they were pronounced dead upon arrival.
He stated that subsequently, utilising technological intelligence, the police apprehended two of the suspects in the Ehor neighbourhood while selling gas from the stole vehicle.
He stated that the suspects are supporting the police in their investigation.
