Nigerian singer Tems has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammy Awards, beating fellow Nigerian stars Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, and Asake.
Her hit song “Love Me Jeje”, a remake of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 classic, triumphed over other nominees, making it the second consecutive win by a female artist in the newly introduced category.
Last year, South African singer Tyla won the inaugural award with her hit song “Water.”
However, Tems missed out on her other two nominations, losing Best R&B Song to SZA’s “Saturn” and Best Global Music Album to Matt B’s “Alkebulan II.”
