Abubakar Yakubu, a 30-year-old tricycle rider in Minna, Niger State, told police investigators that he never approaches women because he has no confidence to approach—rather, he always goes for minors.
When he paraded the suspect, Commissioner of Police (CP) Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman revealed this information. He said the suspect, who lived in the Limawa neighbourhood of Minna, was detained after they received information about his sexual assaults on girls.
According to the CP, during the course of the investigation, the suspect admitted to the police that he rode a tricycle and that for the previous year, he had been having sex with two girls in the neighbourhood, luring them into his home with tokens worth N50 or N100.
It was reported that he also mentioned two other girls, one of whom he claimed he was trying to defile, that he had tried to rape.
The CP went on, “The girls are between the ages of six and eight, and he stated that he could not converse with older women and that the act was just for fun.”
