American rapper Dajua Blanding, known as Dank DeMoss, has filed a lawsuit against ride-hailing company Lyft, alleging weight discrimination after a driver refused her service due to her size.
DeMoss, who weighs 489 pounds, described the incident as humiliating and shared a video of it on TikTok.
Speaking to CBS News, she said, “I was hurt and embarrassed. I have been in that same type of car many times and never had an issue. This was someone who was discriminating against me just because of my weight.”
Her legal team argues that the driver’s actions violated Michigan’s anti-discrimination laws, which protect individuals from bias based on weight.
In response, Lyft issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to inclusivity, stating that its “community guidelines and terms of service explicitly prohibit harassment or discrimination.”
