Beyoncé won her first-ever Album of the Year award at the 2025 Grammys for her country album, Cowboy Carter. This makes her the first Black woman to win the category in over 25 years, since Lauryn Hill in 1999.
She also made history by winning Best Country Album, becoming the first Black woman to win a Grammy in a country category in more than 50 years.
With these wins, Beyoncé now holds a record 35 Grammy Awards, further cementing her status as the most-awarded artist in Grammy history.
Her victory comes a year after her husband, Jay-Z, publicly criticized the Recording Academy for never awarding her Album of the Year despite her numerous Grammy wins.
