Singer Shallipopi has urged fellow artists to charge fees that reflect their true value.
During an interview with News Central TV, he addressed the ongoing debate about high fees charged by Nigerian artists.
Shallipopi explained that an artist’s value is tied to the success and reach of their music. He rejected claims that Nigerian artists are overpriced, arguing that those with streaming numbers similar to American artists should charge fees that match their international counterparts.
In his words;
“It depends on your music and where it has gotten, that is what your price is going to be.”
“If your music has gotten the same stream as an American artiste, you should be charging the same way they charge but if is not up to that you cannot overcharge.”
