An Abeokuta Magistrate’s Court has adjourned the case of popular musician Portable to March 26, to allow for the merging of his charges with those of his workers.
During the court session on March 5, the prosecution requested that the cases against Portable and his nine workers be consolidated, as both were previously arraigned on similar charges on February 6.
The charges against Portable and his workers include conspiracy, assault, unlawful obstruction (while armed with cutlasses and a gun), and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The charges stem from an incident where the musician and his workers allegedly assaulted three officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Senior State Counsel, Timileyin Oredein, emphasized that it would be inefficient to conduct separate trials and requested a short adjournment for the charges to be merged.
