Kaduna residents terrified as troops burn herders camps in search for bandits

When soldiers searching for bandits set some herders’ encampment on fire, there was tangible panic in several villages in Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State.

In an interview with our reporter on Monday, Samaila Adamu, a member of the Janjala settlement, stated that people from Kuchimi, Taka Lafiya, Kuku, and Gidan Makeri under the Kagarko Chiefdom were leaving their homes due to the actions of the army.

He claimed that since last Friday, the army had been moving between communities, setting fire to Fulani settlements, which had caused the residents to become extremely alarmed.

Awwalu Bala, a resident of Taka Lafiya, claimed he was compelled to leave the neighbourhood and relocate to adjacent Janjala to protect himself from surprise attacks.

He clarified, saying, “The troops are currently searching for the bandits and burning Fulani settlements because they have taken some of these communities as their routes and hideouts.”As long as there are military in Janjala, you will find that a large number of residents from nearby villages that were impacted are now seeking safety here.

DSP Mansur Hassan, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, was unreachable and did not respond to an SMS asking about the incident.
