On Wednesday, the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan ordered Kazeem Adiatu (44) to be held in a correctional institution for allegedly murdering Temitope, a 20-year-old woman.
Adiatu, whose home location was not disclosed, was charged with murder.
The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, refused to accept the defendant’s plea due to a lack of jurisdiction.
He ordered the police to submit the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal guidance and rescheduled the case for March 27 for mention. Mr Philip Amusan, the prosecution, informed the court that the defendant allegedly committed the act on November 24, 2023, in the Olowo area of Ibadan. Amusan claimed that Adiatu illegally caused Temitope’s death by beating her on the head with a cement block.
He said the crime violated Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
