Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, known as Odumodublvck, has alleged that stream manipulation is widespread in the country’s music industry.
In a post on his X handle, he claimed that many artists artificially boost their streaming numbers, but it doesn’t reflect in real-life success like concert bookings and ticket sales.
“There’s a high level of stream farming going on in the Nigerian music industry,” he wrote. “Farming is crazy cause it’s not translating into shows, bookings, or ticket sales at home and abroad. So, what’s the point?”
Similarly, rapper Blaqbonez has repeatedly accused some artists of using streaming farms to manipulate Apple Music Nigeria charts.
However, music executive Don Jazzy dismissed these claims in a 2023 interview, stating that such technology does not exist. Despite his stance, accusations of stream farming continue to surface within the industry.
