Nigerian TikTok star, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has responded to the backlash he received over his remarks on the viral 30-Day Rant Challenge.
His comments led to widespread criticism, causing him to lose a significant number of followers across social media.
Earlier, Peller had warned Nigerians against using TikTok for the challenge, suggesting that it could lead to the government banning the platform. Instead, he advised them to express their grievances on Instagram or through physical protests. However, his statement angered many social media users, leading to a mass unfollowing.
In an interview with TVC, Peller revealed that he lost almost 500,000 followers on TikTok and 400,000 on Instagram due to the controversy.
Addressing the issue in a new video, he clarified that he never opposed the challenge but was only concerned about possible consequences. He emphasized that he has no power over government decisions, saying:
“Please, I am just an ordinary citizen like you. I am not the president or a governor.”
Despite the backlash, Peller urged Nigerians to stay focused on the real issues affecting the country instead of blaming him.
