Nigerian musician Danny Young, whose real name is Ajibola Danladi, has said that social media has ended oppression in the Nigerian music industry.
In his latest podcast, he shared a personal experience, recalling how a powerful figure deliberately excluded him from an award nomination.
According to the singer, social media has reduced the influence of industry gatekeepers, giving more power to creatives.
In his words;
“The good thing is that social media came to expose many of them because it gave people the opportunity to express themselves. That is what led to the emergence of what we call Gen Z.”
“My definition of Gen Z is freedom of speech, freedom of rights, and freedom of expression.”
