Tems has made history as the first female African artist to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify. She achieved this remarkable milestone with her 2022 single “Wait For U”, a collaboration with Future and Drake.

The song, which samples Tems’ track “Higher” from her 2020 album For Broken Ears, not only broke streaming records but also debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, marking a historic first for an African artist.
