Nollywood actress and movie producer Adanma Luke has broken her silence regarding the devastating boat accident that claimed the lives of some crew members, including actor Junior Pope.
Junior Pope’s passing was confirmed Wednesday night after frantic attempts to revive him proved futile.
The talented actor, along with other crew members, tragically drowned in the River Niger while returning from the set of “Another Side of Life,” a movie produced by Adanma Luke.
In the wake of the accident, Adanma faced intense scrutiny and accusations of negligence, with demands for her to take accountability for the tragedy.
Responding to mounting pressure, Adanma voluntarily presented herself to the police for questioning.
However, she has now offered her perspective on the incident in a heartfelt video shared on her Instagram account.
Expressing profound grief and trauma, Adanma conveyed her sorrow over the harrowing incident. “I’ve been so traumatised, this whole thing still feels like a dream to me,” she lamented. “I just wish I could wake up from this dream.”
In the video, Adanma revealed that she was originally meant to be on the ill-fated boat with the crew. However, upon arrival, she was informed of the tragic accident by one of the crew members named Emeka.
She further disclosed that life jackets were available, emphasizing their importance in survival. Adanma recounted how those who wore life jackets managed to survive, while her production manager revealed that Junior Pope had declined to wear one due to its condition.
Captioning the video with a broken heart emoji, Adanma reiterated the availability of life jackets, underscoring the preventable nature of the tragedy.
Amidst her grief, Adanma affirmed her commitment to facilitating the return of the victims’ bodies for burial, highlighting her efforts to provide solace and closure to the bereaved families.
