The Afropop star Ayra Starr announced on Wednesday (May 1) that her second record, The Year I Turned 21, will come out on May 31.
She also showed off the record cover, which shows the 21-year-old Beninese-Nigerian artist sticking out of a red convertible with her curly hair in the wind revealing a beautiful flower dress decorated with jewels. She also shared the 14-song project’s track list. Asake (on “Goodbye (Warm Up)”), Anitta and Coco Jones (“Woman Commando”), Giveon (“Last Heartbreak Song”), Seyi Vibez (“Bad Vibes”), and Milar (“1942”) all worked with her on the album.
Anitta wrote on Instagram, “Giiiirrrrrrrlllll I’m so ready.”
There will also be Starr’s past songs “Commas” and “Rhythm & Blues” on the album.

“The Ayra Starr I want to introduce is great, and her music is amazing.” In a February interview with Billboard News, she said, “This album is different because my sound has changed.”
The Year I Turned 21 comes three years after her first studio album, 19 & Dangerous. It included the hit song “Rush” and the standout track “Bloody Samaritan,” which was later remixed by Kelly Rowland. “Rush” was one of the first songs nominated for the Grammy’s new best African music performance category.
“Santa,” which Starr recently worked on with Rvssian and Rauw Alejandro, is currently at No. 13 on Hot Latin Songs (list dated May 4) and launched this week at No. 36 on Billboard Global Excl. US.
