Edo Election: APC governors begin prayers over final results

As the 2024 Edo State governorship election results begin to emerge, several governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) gathered for a prayer session at the party’s situation room in Benin City.

This event, led by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, included notable figures such as Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reflecting a show of unity amid the electoral process.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the official announcement of results on Sunday.

Key candidates in the race include Monday Okpebholo from the APC, Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP).

As of the latest updates, Okpebholo was leading with 244,549 votes across 16 local government areas, followed by Ighodalo with 195,954 votes and Akpata with 13,348 votes.

While the results from these local governments have been reported, INEC has paused the collation process for three hours to finalize results from the remaining two local governments.

Resumption is anticipated at 5 p.m. at INEC headquarters.

The atmosphere in the APC’s situation room remains one of optimism, as party members and governors await the final outcome of this closely watched election.
