Kylian Mbappé of Paris Saint-Germain broke records as he became the first player in Ligue 1 to win the UNFP Player of the Season award five times in a row.
On Monday night, in Paris’ Pavillon d’Armenonville, the best French footballers from the previous season were honoured at an awards ceremony.
PSG’s most recent championship victory was largely due to Mbappé’s outstanding play this season, in which he scored 27 goals.
This honour comes at a time when Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid as a free agent this summer, having been named the league’s best scorer.
There were other noteworthy Ligue 1 accomplishments recognised at the UNFP Awards as well.
Manager Eric Roy of Stade Brestois was named Manager of the Year in recognition of the team’s outstanding season.
The award went to Gianluigi Donnarumma of PSG, who beat off Marcin Bulka of Nice and Lucas Chevalier of Lille for the title of Keeper of the Year.
Didier Deschamps is expected to add Warren Zaïre-Emery, the young star from PSG, in France’s Euro 2024 team. Zaïre-Emery was also named Young Player of the Year.
Antoine Griezmann of Atlético de Madrid earned the Best French Player Abroad award for the second year in a row, surpassing William Saliba of Arsenal and Aurélien Tchouaméni of Real Madrid.
