The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on New Media, Jubril Gawat, has debunked plans to contest the 2027 governorship election in Abia or Anambra State.

The denial is coming on the heels of a 2027 governorship campaign poster of Gawat that emerged online.

According to the poster’s details, Gawat would run for the 2027 Abia State governorship election under the Labour Party (LP) platform.

However, Gawat clarified in a post via X that he will not be contesting for the governorship position in any state.

He noted his continued commitment to the progress of Lagos State is more important to him.

He wrote: “Good evening everyone, Thanks for Sharing my impromptu photo that dropped earlier today, I appreciate. I also wish to clarify that I am NOT vying for any position in Abia or Anambra State or anywhere, either by ‘Residency or Indigeneship’. The progress of every state is important to me, most especially Lagos State.

“I know it was just cruise but it is equally important to debunk the false information. IGBEGA ILU EKO… AJUMOSE NI, ITESIWAJU ILU ABIA LO JE WA LOGUN. Nigeria o ni baje.
