Nigerian Defense Hq, had on Tuesday evening, confirmed the killing of Nigerian army soldiers by bandits in Katsina state.
First Post reports that terrorists attacked a military camp in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State on Sunday, where five soldiers were reportedly killed, and many injured.
The military high command in a reaction by the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, however said that the military recorded four casualties, not five as widely reported.
He said, “On 12 May 2024, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI encountered 2 separate ambushes namely at Kuran Mota Village as well as along Road Alikere – Yarmalimai Village in Zamfara State.
“Though troops fought fiercely to extricate themselves from the situation. Sadly, troops recorded casualties of 4 soldiers killed in action, while 3 were wounded in action in the first ambush.
He added that the military on ground with support from air component also fought back, and killed many terrorists.
He said many terrorists were killed in the process.
