Luciano Spalletti, the head coach of Italy, has selected Michael Folorunso, a midfielder born in Nigeria, as one of the 26 players in his final roster for the Euro 2024 competition.
Folorunso was born in Italy to Nigerian parents and possessed dual citizenship, making her eligible to represent either Italy or Nigeria.
Last week, Spalletti initially summoned 30 players to attend the training camp in Coverciano.
Folorunso was loaned to Hellas Verona from Napoli for the 2023-24 season.
The 26-year-old netted five goals and contributed an assist in 34 league matches for Hellas Verona.
Spalletti sent his first invitation to the former Bari player in March.
He was a substitute for the national teams of Venezuela and Ecuador.
Italy is placed in Group B, alongside Spain, Croatia, and Albania.
