The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a strong warning to all Corps Members against participating in the planned nationwide protests scheduled to commence on August 1, 2024.
In a circular distributed to all Corps Members, the NYSC emphasized the prohibition of Corps Members from engaging in any form of protest or demonstration, as outlined in Section 14 of the NYSC Act.
The circular highlighted the following key points:
– Corps Members are legally prohibited from participating in any political or religious activities, including protests and demonstrations.
– Corps Members are urged to avoid any form of participation or involvement in the planned protest.
– It is advised to stay away from protest venues and routes.
– Focus should be maintained on primary assignments and community development activities.
– Corps Members are reminded to prioritize their safety and well-being.

The NYSC reiterated that participating in the protest could result in severe consequences, including the termination of service and possible prosecution.
The organization stressed that the reminder is not meant to infringe on freedom of expression but to ensure compliance with the law and adherence to the NYSC’s code of conduct.
Corps Members with any questions or concerns are encouraged to contact their Zonal or Local Government Inspector. The NYSC reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and integrity of all its members.
