The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has taken the step of suspending former Governor Samuel Ortom over allegations of anti-party behavior.
Ortom, who is known to have close ties with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, is facing accusations of orchestrating and supporting the theft of election materials during the recent Ward Congresses.

A statement from the party’s Secretary in Benue State indicated that Ortom’s conduct led to the cancellation of congresses in multiple local government areas, including Buruku, Gboko, Ushongo, Guma, Tarka, Kwande, and Ohimini.
It noted that Ortom had publicly endorsed Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate in the 2023 elections.
