Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has emphasised the importance of the private sector in implementing the federal government’s proposal on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) across the country.
Yesterday, in Abuja, the minister made this statement during the inauguration of the ABG CNG Plant and the graduation ceremony of 40 CNG conversion technicians.
Idris, in a statement written by his Special Assistant, Rabiu Ibrahim, commended the ABG Group’s efforts as commendable and timely, acknowledging that the CNG has established itself as a more economically efficient mode of transportation.
The user praised President Bola Tinubu for his visionary leadership in promoting the widespread use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a primary substitute for premium motor spirits in fueling both commercial and private automobiles.
“The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is the upcoming trend, and it is crucial for Nigerian entrepreneurs to capitalise on the government’s CNG policy by investing in the necessary human and material resources to expand its infrastructure throughout Nigeria,” stated Idris.
He stated that President Tinubu’s government has currently allocated a total of N100 billion initially towards the CNG. Additionally, he mentioned that the Nigerian Labour Congress was attracted to the CNG and its potential benefits, which helped them negotiate more easily with the federal government.
According to Alhaji Bawa Garba, the Chairman of the ABG Group, the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a clean energy solution in Nigeria requires government assistance and patronage in order to become widespread and establish Nigeria as a leading producer of natural gas.
“Our group expresses gratitude to President Tinubu for the courageous choice to embrace Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).” “Our company is consistently at the forefront of innovation, and our commitment to the CNG initiative is demonstrated by our extensive training of numerous CNG conversion engineers throughout Nigeria,” stated Garba.
