President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to return to Abuja on Sunday following an official visit to China and a brief stay in the United Kingdom.
His trip began on August 29 when he departed Abuja for Beijing, with a stopover in Dubai.
Upon arrival in Beijing on September 1, President Tinubu initiated his official engagements on September 2 with a meeting with President Xi Jinping, where he was received with a 21-gun salute and inspected the guard of honor.
During the visit, five key agreements were signed between Nigeria and China.
These included cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative, peaceful nuclear energy application, human resource development, media exchange, and a significant infrastructure project—the construction of the Lagos Green Rail Line connecting Lekki Free Zone to Marina. Another major agreement involved a $1 billion iron ore-to-steel project in Kogi State.
President Tinubu also held talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and later visited Huawei and the China Railway Construction Corporation.
He attended the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, where he emphasized the need for multilateral cooperation for global peace.
Before heading to London, President Tinubu met with the Nigerian Diaspora in China, highlighting ongoing reforms in Nigeria aimed at improving infrastructure, power, and education.
