Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, widely recognized by her stage name Tems, has opened up about her personal experiences with love, revealing that she has never truly been in love.
During a recent interview on “Flow with Korty,” the 28-year-old artist shared her thoughts on the nature of love and relationships.
Tems expressed that she believes love should be a conscious and deliberate choice, rather than something that happens without awareness.
She explained, “I haven’t been in love. To me, loving someone means seeing them fully and still wanting to be a part of their life. Even if they irritate me sometimes, I choose them, and I keep choosing them.”
She also discussed the difference between infatuation and genuine love, stating, “I want to experience a love that is deep and real, not something that is blind. I don’t think true love is blind. Real love is when you see all of someone’s flaws and still want to be with them.”
Tems emphasized that many people confuse infatuation with love. She noted, “People often get infatuated and think that’s love. If you’re blind to someone’s faults, that’s not love. Love is when you see everything about a person and still want them. I want someone to see all of me and still say, ‘Yes, I want that.’”
