Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has revealed the reasons behind the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) defeat in the recent governorship election.
According to him, the election was marked by a significant disregard for the electoral process and the rule of law, which greatly undermined the democratic system.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner, while PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, came in second place.
Obaseki pointed out that impunity and the failure to uphold legal procedures played a major role in the PDP’s loss, leaving many Edo residents feeling disheartened by the electoral outcome.

Despite the setback, the governor urged residents to remain peaceful and assured them that pursuing legal avenues would be the proper response to address their concerns.
