Recalls that the immediate past governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje, had in December 2019, signed into law, the 2019 Kano Emirate Council Bill.

The bill provided the power of the government to split the Kano emirate into five.

Thereafter, Mr Ganduje dethroned the then Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi ll.

But after the governor’s victory at the Supreme Court, insinuations were rife that he might reverse the earlier law that created the five emirates and thereafter dethrone all the emirs who had reportedly supported the APC governorship candidate, Nasiru Gawuna.

Speaking in an interview granted to radio stations in Kano, the NNPP leader said, though he had never been contacted on the issue, the government of Mr Yusuf would review the dethronement of Mr Sanusi and balkanisation of the emirate.

“Honestly, it is one of the things that nobody intimated me about so far. But I am sure the government would review the whole matter and do the needful.

“The present government would see the possibility or otherwise of allowing the five emirates, I don’t know. What I know is that the government will definitely revisit the issue,” the Senator noted as reported by Daily Nigerian.

Mr Kwankwaso stated that Mr Ganduje, his political rival, balkanized the Emirates for his personal political agenda, not in the interest of the masses.

“There were a lot of things and this was a trap. All these things were not done in good faith or intention. It was brought with some bad intentions which everyone of you here and our listeners are aware of.

“Sometimes one may come with things that are good and turn out to be bad while sometimes you bring things that are bad and they turn out to be good.

“So, all I know is that I was not consulted as of now but definitely we will come to discuss and see what should be done,” Mr Kwankwaso added.
