Zainab Jummai Ado-Bayero, the daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, has appealed to Abia State Governor Alex Otti and Emir of Kano Sanusi Lamido Sanusi for assistance.
Jummai is facing eviction threats from a Lagos hospitality facility where she, her mother, and brother are staying.
She revealed that since her father’s death, she and her siblings have not had access to his estate and inheritance.
Despite reaching out to influential figures who were close to her father, including the late Maitama Sule, the late Shehu Idris, Emir of Zaria, and the late Tony Momoh, they have received no assistance.
“As a member of the Kano Royal dynasty, I have tried to keep the details private, but I can no longer remain silent,” Zainab stated.
She also mentioned her struggles with launching a documentary about her father due to lack of support and sabotage.
Zainab recounted how she and her mother funded the project themselves and faced eviction from their apartment last year.
Currently, her mother and brother have been staying at Morning Side Suites for two months, struggling to settle the bills.
On June 24, 2024, they were asked to vacate the premises, with the hotel management arriving with police to enforce the eviction.
She urged Governor Alex Otti to intervene, expressing confidence that he would understand their plight as a father himself.
Zainab also mentioned attempts to reach Otti through his staff, but to no avail.
She said she is hoping for a positive response from both Governor Otti and the current Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and prays for peace and assistance from the Governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf.
