Singer Davido has refuted claims of his arrest in Kenya, debunking reports circulated by a Kenyan blog as an April Fool’s Day prank.
The blog had falsely stated that Davido was detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, following his Kenyan music tour.
However, the post was later removed.
Taking to social media to address the issue on Tuesday, Davido set the record straight, stating, “Fam, it has come to my attention that false reports regarding an arrest circulated online on April 1st, which has since led to a barrage of calls. I want to assure my fans that these reports are entirely untrue.”
He further clarified, “I successfully completed my scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and have since returned home to Nigeria.”
Asserting his innocence, Davido emphasized, “I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world. Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I’ve made home throughout my career.”
Expressing his disappointment at the fabrication of such serious allegations, he stated, “I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of ‘April Fools’.”
Davido concluded by stating that his legal team would pursue action against the media entities responsible for spreading the misinformation and thanked his fans for their unwavering support.
