In response to the ongoing power outage caused by the industrial action taken by the labor unions of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani, has taken decisive action.

He has assigned his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, to lead an important meeting with the management of KAEDCO and the National Union of Electricity Employees.

The meeting is currently taking place in the Deputy Governor’s Council Chambers.

In a post by his media aide, he urges citizens to remain hopeful for a positive outcome that will provide relief to the people of Kaduna.

During the meeting, deputy governor, Dr. Balarabe emphasized the severe impact of the power outage on essential services, particularly healthcare delivery and business operations across the affected states. She urged the striking workers to restore power supply while negotiations continue.

The high-level meeting was attended by key government officials including the Secretary to the State Government and the Chief of Staff, as well as the Director of the Department of State Services.

KEDCO was represented by its Managing Director, Umar Abubakar Hashidu, while Comrade Rilwan Shehu, Deputy President-General of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, led the union delegation.

Both the company management and labor unions expressed appreciation for the state government’s intervention and pledged to work towards restoring normal power supply and addressing the labour crisis between them.
