The family of Eleojo Opaluwa, a key figure in the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) and Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Kogi State, has reached out to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, seeking his intervention regarding Opaluwa’s detention.
Opaluwa was reportedly taken into custody by the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on August 4, 2024, in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
Since his arrest, his family claims they have had no contact with him, which has raised serious concerns about his well-being.
The family, represented by their lawyer, Anthony Itedjere, emphasized that despite multiple efforts, neither they nor Opaluwa’s legal team have been able to establish any communication with him.

This situation has heightened fears about his health and safety, especially considering the current security climate in the country.
They are appealing to the National Security Adviser to intervene, urging that Opaluwa be granted access to his family and legal representatives.
They also requested his immediate release or, if he has committed any crime, that he be formally charged in court.
The family insisted that the actions of the security operatives should align with proper legal procedures and protocols.
