FG plan to merge National ID Card with ATM cards

National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has begin plans to unveil a National ID Cards with bank cards details.

The commission has since wrote to commercial banks asking them to begin issuing cards that contain national ID card number and features.

As reported by The Cable Nigeria, the move passed following a memo from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) giving banks permission to provide the combined banking and national identity cards. Approval from the federal executive council, and a partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), NBS and other agencies.

NIMC said the card will be valid for five years and that it will contain some security features that are unique.
