The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation has written the Budget Office of the Federation, demanding the confirmation of budgetary provisions for the salary increment recently approved by President Bola Tinubu for the police, para-military and some categories of civil servants and pensioners.
The account general’s letter, dated May 27, 2024, was signed by the Deputy Director of Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, V.E.N. Ekwem, and addressed to the Director-General of the Budget Office.
In the letter, the Accountant General, Oluwatoyin Madein, noted that the confirmation of budgetary allocation would help in the implementation of the new salary scale.
The PUNCH reported that the Federal Government, on April 30, 2024, ahead of the Workers’ Day celebration on May 1, approved 25 per cent and 35 per cent salary increases for civil servants across various consolidated salary structures.
The statement added that the augmentation applied to the six remaining consolidated salary structures, namely the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure, Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure, Consolidated Police Salary Structure, Consolidated Para-Military Salary Structure, Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure, and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure.
However, the increment had not been implemented yet.
