Nigerian dancer Lil Smart has publicly retracted the allegations he made against his former boss, Naira Marley, following his recent arrest by the Nigerian police on charges of defamation and cyberstalking.
In a video statement, Lil Smart admitted that he had falsely implicated Naira Marley in a case involving the theft of $300.
He clarified that Naira Marley was not involved in his alleged abduction or assault and that the Marlian Music boss was not present at the scene.
Lil Smart explained that his mistake stemmed from the presence of Naira Marley’s associates at the location, which led to his erroneous assumptions.
Expressing deep remorse, Lil Smart apologized for spreading unverified claims and advised his followers to always report incidents to the authorities instead of making baseless accusations online.
He said: “He was my ex-boss, his boys were at the scene so that was why I thought it might have come from him.”
“I feel very bad and now I’ve seen my mistake and I can correct myself and fellow Nigerians that you don’t come out to post what you don’t have proof of or what you’re not sure of and you should just go to the nearest police station and report instead of coming online.”
