The National Assembly is once again in mourning following the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South Senatorial District.

Ubah passed away in the United Kingdom on Monday at the age of 52, becoming the fifth federal lawmaker to die since the 2023 general elections.

He had traveled to the UK for medical treatment weeks before his death, which occurred under undisclosed circumstances.

Initially elected as a Senator in 2019 under the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Ubah was re-elected in 2023 before switching to the All Progressives Congress (APC) earlier this year, planning to run for the Anambra State governorship in 2025.

Two weeks prior, Rep. Ekene Abubakar Adams, representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, also passed away at the age of 39 after battling health issues.

Adams, who served as the House Committee on Sports chairman, was a first-term legislator and former football manager for Remo Stars and Kada City.

Additionally, on October 11, 2023, Abdulkadir Jelani Danbuga, representing Isa-Sabon Birni federal constituency under the APC, died after a brief illness. His death was confirmed by a colleague, and his remains were transported to Sokoto for burial.

 

Earlier in the year, on May 10, 2024, Rep. Isa Dogonyaro from Garki/Babura Federal Constituency in Jigawa State died. His passing was announced by a colleague on social media, although the family had not yet officially communicated with the House of Representatives.

 

On April 22, 2023, Rep. Ismaila Maihanci, representing Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency in Taraba State, died at the age of 36. Maihanci, who won his seat under the PDP, had previously served as a Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor and as the PDP Secretary in Taraba State.

In July,  Rep. Akinremi Jagaban, representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, passed away. Jagaban, a prominent member of the APC, was known for his dedication to his constituency and his significant contributions to legislative processes.

    The problem with this tabloid is the repetition of stories. From 5 law makers dying, you ended up repeating names as if almost 15 lawmakers had died. please try to proofread before posting
