The late Zago, popularly known as Dan Zago, passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 74 after a protracted illness at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

According to Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the late Dan Zago is survived by four wives, 37 children, and many grandchildren.

Family sources confirmed that his funeral prayer (Salatul Janaza) is scheduled to take place today by 1:00 PM at the Emir’s Palace in Kano, where family members, government officials, friends, and associates of the late ace politician are expected to gather to pay their final respects.

Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Alhaji Zago as a dedicated public servant, a master political strategist, and a business mogul who played a key role in shaping the political landscape of Kano over the last 50 years.

He further extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Kano, praying for Allah’s mercy upon his departed soul.

Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago was a unique politician with massive grassroots support who served in various capacities, including State Chairman of the defunct ANPP

He was also a Political Adviser to a former Kano State Governor, a Special Assistant to a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and a board member of many private companies within and outside Kano State.
