Kano State Government under Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has promised to reintroduce the payments of the annual increments to Civil Servants immediately after the conduct of the workforce screening and biometric data capture exercise.
The Kano State Accountant General, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam disclosed this during a meeting with stakeholders on the conduct of the Kano Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (KIPPIS),Screening and Biometric Data Capture Exercise.
Alhaji Abdulkadir stated that since the approval by the state executive council to conduct the exercise and the subsequent symbolic launched of the exercise by state Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, preparations immediately commences and efforts being intensified to make the exercise a reality.
He maintained that the state government has approved the two standing committees on civil servants payroll exercise at state and local government levels in addition with pensioners.
In his address,state Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Jibrin Fagge stated that the state government initiated the exercise to ascertain the exact number of its workforce so to avoid leakages of public funds.
In his presentation ,the Chairman,State Payroll Standing Committee, Alhaji Faruk Umar Ibrahim highlighted some of his committee’s mandates and recomendations on how best the exercise proposed to be conducted.
He maintained that both committees are ready to accept advices and observations which will be of significant benefits to the successfull conduct of the exercise.
Earlier, in his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi directed the committees instead of writing the Bank Verification Number (BVN) on the form should read it during screening exercise.
