In a decisive move to enforce environmental regulations, the Lagos State Government has demolished a shrine constructed illegally near a main road at Moshalasi Bus Stop, Ile Epo, in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos.
The demolition was carried out earlier today by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), following a series of warnings and notices issued to the shrine’s operators.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment, took to Twitter to share details of the operation.
He noted that despite several stop-work notices and instances of physical assault on personnel from the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), the illegal structure remained until today’s intervention.

“The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps earlier today removed the Shrine constructed close to a main road at Moshalasi Bus Stop, Ile Epo in Iyana Ipaja,” Wahab tweeted.
He also emphasized the government’s stance on maintaining environmental order in public spaces, warning that any form of environmental nuisance within the state’s parks and gardens would be met with strict enforcement and prosecution.
The Lagos State Government urged residents to comply with environmental regulations to ensure a cleaner and safer Lagos.
