On Saturday morning, a section of a two-storey residential building in Abuja collapsed, leaving numerous individuals trapped beneath the debris.
The incident occurred beside the well-known Cupid Hotel on Cupid Road (Sultan Dasuki Way) in Kubwa. Originally a hotel named Al-Hilal, the structure later became a hospital before being converted into residential apartments after the hospital ceased operations.

Emergency responders and security personnel quickly arrived at the scene, but rescue efforts were delayed due to the absence of necessary cranes, which had not arrived by 8:45 a.m., nearly two hours after the collapse.
Despite the challenging conditions, two people were taken to a nearby hospital, and several others managed to escape on their own.
An anonymous survivor recounted that she woke up around 7 a.m. and, upon stepping outside, heard cracking sounds and immediately fled the building.
