In a formal announcement on Monday, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) introduced former Ajax star Finidi George as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
Assisting him will be his former Super Eagles teammate Daniel Amokachi, with Olatunji Baruwa as the goalkeeper trainer, Chima Onyeike as Fitness Trainer, and Mehmet Ozturk as Analyst.
Finidi George also plans to bring in two assistant coaches from Europe.
Finidi stated that he will only call up players who regularly play for their clubs, either in Nigeria or abroad, for international assignments, ensuring that the Super Eagles remain highly competitive in the future.
The tactician who signed a one-year contract has been leading the team since March.
He is now focused on preparing for the critical 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin in June. The squad list for both matches is expected to be announced soon.
In light of the one-year contract agreement, it appears that the NFF is utilizing a trial period with Finidi.
Should he not succeed in meeting expectations, it is probable that his contract will not be renewed.
