Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has agreed to comply with any conditions set by the Federal Government for his release from detention.
This information was revealed on Wednesday by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents Abia South. Abaribe, along with other Senators from Nigeria’s South East region, met with Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, to advocate for Kanu’s release.
Abaribe, the former Senate Minority Leader, stated that he had already visited Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters.
Despite the meeting being held privately, Senator Abaribe expressed optimism that the Attorney-General would persuade the Federal Government to release Kanu. He argued that Kanu’s continued detention contributes to the rising insecurity and agitations in the South East.
Abaribe stressed that until Kanu is released, social and economic activities in the region would remain hindered.
